If you need to change, update, or add new credit card or bank details for your direct debit, you’re in the right place.
Make, change and understand your payments online with myBupa.
If you’ve missed a payment, don’t worry. These things happen and it’s an easy fix.
You can log in to myBupa to make the payment now, or check that the catch-up payment has been rescheduled. You won’t be able to make any claims while your policy is behind. However, you can lodge these as normal once it’s back up to date.
We’ll always get in touch with you if your direct debit payment isn’t successful. This contact will be by SMS, email, or post (in that order) depending on the contact details you’ve registered with us.
If we experience a few unsuccessful payments in a row, we’ll remove direct debit from your policy and start issuing invoices for manual payment, to make sure you’re not incurring dishonour fees from your financial institution. These invoices will default to monthly premiums if you were paying through direct debit, or your chosen frequency if you were paying manually.
You can use myBupa to update both your contact and payment details where necessary, and to make any catch-up payments required.
The private health insurance rebate is a contribution the Australian Government makes towards your private health insurance premium, based on your income and age. A higher income generally lowers the rebate you receive, or you may not be entitled to any rebate at all.
If you haven't already, you'll need to register your rebate on myBupa or complete this rebate form within 35 days of joining to continue to receive the rebate. If we don't receive this confirmation, we must remove the rebate from your policy, which will result in an increase to the full premium amount and potentially an additional payment due.

If you've recently changed your direct debit payment date, there's often an additional payment to cover any gap between your previous and new payment dates. This ensures you're always paid up to date.
If you or another family member have recently joined Bupa from another health fund, but we haven't received your clearance documents from them, we'll have to amend your LHC or ABD.
This can result in a retrospective increase to your premium payments and an additional gap amount due. However, once we receive your clearance documents, your payments will be amended and any additional amount paid credited to your account.
If you've told us you've moved interstate, this will change your premiums. Premiums for the same cover differ state-by-state. If your premium is higher than it was before, an additional payment will be scheduled to cover the difference between your previous and current amount, up to your next payment due date.
If you've changed cover to a higher premium policy, an additional payment will be scheduled to cover the difference between your old cover and new cover, up to your next payment due date. Then your first full payment on your new cover will be at the amount you were quoted when you changed cover.

Bupa does not charge a fee for payments beyond the due date. However, you may need to pay the gap between your due date and the date you paid to ensure you do not have a gap in your coverage.
If your payment is scheduled on a weekend or public holiday or if you have set it up to be deducted on the 29th, 30th or 31st of the month, Bupa will deduct it on the closest available business day in line with our direct debit agreement.

It happens to us all from time to time but the most common reason a payment doesn’t go through is insufficient funds.
If you’ve set up your direct debit to align with your salary, it’s best to have your payments come out the day after you get paid, to make sure we’re not trying to deduct funds before they’re received in your account.
We also don’t get automatically notified if your credit card or account gets compromised or expires, so you’ll need to update this information with us if that happens. You can make these updates through myBupa.
To save you time, there are plenty of things you can do using your myBupa account.
