Claim checklist

If you do need to make a claim, submit it to us as soon as possible to help prevent any delays in payment. To make the process even easier, please ensure you have the following information handy:

Your policy number and personal contact details

Contact details of anyone involved in an incident, including their name, current address, vehicle registration details, phone number and insurance details if known

Any letters, notices or court documents about the incident, and the incident report number for any claims in relation to theft or attempted theft, vandalism or a malicious act (the police will provide you with this number when you report the incident to them).

You can also assist the claims process by:

Taking photos of any damage to your property

Keeping damaged property and items so we can inspect and assess the damage if required.

With Bupa Home Insurance you can choose to cover your home and contents, contents only or the building only, plus we have three levels of cover to choose from, ranging from basic cover through to premium cover, helping to ensure that you are covered whatever your needs.

Bupa includes flood cover as an automatic feature of Home and Contents policies. This means that you can rest assured you’re covered for all damage caused by water except for storm surge.

Yes, mobile phones and tablet computers are considered valuable items that make up part of your contents cover. How your device is covered depends on the type of policy you have chosen.

You can cover your mobile device for loss or damage by choosing an Accidental Damage policy or taking out optional Other Valuables cover under the Listed Events policy. Otherwise your policy will be covered for the events listed for the type of policy you hold, such as fire, theft from home, etc. Please call 134 135 if you would like more information or to check if your mobile phone is adequately covered

Your Bupa Home Insurance helps protect you for liability which covers your obligation to pay compensation for injury or death to others or damage to their property that resulted from an incident caused in connection with you owning/living in the insured address. For example, if a guest tripped down the stairs in your home and injured themselves, and you were found legally liable, you would be covered for any claim they make against you.

If your contents are insured, liability cover protects you for an incident which causes death or bodily injury to others anywhere in the world (or Australia only for the Fundamentals policy). For example, if you kicked a football in a park and it hit someone, causing injury, you would be covered if you were found legally liable and they sued you for compensation.

The limit of all liability claims under a Bupa Home policy is $20 million. Please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for full terms and conditions and exclusions and limits that apply.

Bupa Home Insurance offers cover for buildings that are being renovated, however some restrictions apply.

- If the value of renovations is greater than $75,000 or is structural, we will not cover you for any legal liability arising from the renovations. Structural renovations are those that affect the overall structure or frame of the home.  
- We will not cover you for any water entering your home through an opening made for any renovations or repair work.

You must tell us if you are planning to renovate your property to ensure we can provide you the right cover for the work you are about to start. Please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for full terms and conditions.
