Am I eligible to use a digital membership card?
All our health insurance members above 15 years of age are eligible to download and use their own digital membership card.
Where can I use my digital membership card?
You can use your digital membership card for Extras services* at any provider using a HICAPS payment terminal. Members with Overseas Visitors Cover can use their digital membership card at GP visits provided HICAPS payment terminal is available. A small portion of providers use a network that isn’t compatible with your digital membership card. For locations where your digital membership card is not accepted – you can claim easily online to receive your benefit using myBupa.

Is my digital membership card secure?
At Bupa, we take your security seriously to ensure that your data is protected and your digital membership card is safe and secure. We use industry-standard encryption and other controls to ensure we keep your information secure. You can find out more about our data security in our Bupa Privacy and Security policy.
When you add your membership card to Apple Wallet, all the information is stored on your device and encrypted. All information sent to the HICAPS terminal is encrypted, and Apple doesn't receive any transaction information.

How do I get my digital membership card?
How do I find my Bupa membership card number?
For services such as Telehealth, you may be required to provide your Bupa membership card number. You can find this number by logging into the myBupa App and clicking the dropdown arrow next to your product name. Your card number will be the 19-digit number displayed next to 'Card number'.
iOS devices and Apple Watch
For iPhone and Apple Watch, add the digital card to Apple Wallet from the myBupa app on iPhone.
Your device will need to run iOS 11 or later. ds

Android devices
For Android devices, you'll find your digital card on the app's home screen. You'll need to have a device compatible with Android OS 5.0 or higher.

What do I need to know before I make a claim?
Make sure:
- You’re covered for the service you’re trying to claim
- You’ve served any waiting periods
- You haven’t exceeded your yearly limits
You can check your 'Extras Usage'* in myBupa before you use your cover. You can find out how much you can get back by going to:
myBupa > Manage Your Cover > Get An Estimate
Get 60-100% back on most services when you visit Extras providers who are part of our Members First network (up to yearly limits). See if your provider is part of our network:

How do I claim?
For iOS devices and Apple Watch:
To process your health claim with iPhone or Apple Watch:
- On iPhone with Face ID and Apple Watch, double click the Side Button.
On iPhone with Touch ID, double click the Home Button from the Lock Screen. - Tap your myBupa pass in Wallet.
- Hold iPhone or Apple Watch near reader.
If you have more than one person on your card, you can get the Patient Number by tapping the more button when viewing the pass, or from the myBupa app.

For Android devices:
- Open the myBupa app and tap on your card.
- Hold your device near the HICAPS terminal.
- The provider will ask for your two-digit member number which is next to your name on your digital membership card.
How do you know if your claim is approved?
Once you tap and claim, your device will receive a confirmation. Within 1 hour you should see your claim in ‘Claims History’ in the myBupa app.
What if my claim is rejected?
There may be several reasons why your claim is rejected:
- Make sure your policy is up to date and that you’re covered for the service
- Check that your waiting periods have been served
- Make sure you haven’t reached your yearly service limit
You can check your 'Extras Usage'* in myBupa.

What should I do if I lose my device?
If you need help to disable your digital membership card to prevent any fraudulent claims or require any further support, call us on 134 135 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday AEDT.
For Apple devices:
Find My iPhone on the web or use the Find My app on another Apple device. If your iPhone is lost or stolen, here's more info.
For Android devices:
Most Android devices support a 'Find my device' feature that allows you to remotely erase all of your phone's data. You can also contact your phone provider.

Can I use my device /digital wallet to make payments at HICAP payment terminal?
For Apple devices, you can use Apple Pay to make your gap payment either on your iPhone or Apple Watch. You need to have added your card to Apple Wallet. Here's more information on how to set up Apple Pay.

Step 1. Set up your card on your phone.
Step 2. Ensuring your phone is unlocked, hover close to the HICAPS machine.
Step 3. Hold until you feel a vibration, hear a beep or see a visual confirmation (this may take a moment).
Step 4. Show your member number next to your name on your digital card to the service provider to finalise the claim.
