Bupa has partnered with Landcare Australia for the past two years to establish the Healthy Cities Landcare Grants program.
The program provided grants to local communities to plant native trees, shrubs and groundcovers across urban and peri-urban areas nationwide.
Equivalent to 5,000 cars off the road*
In total, 28 community groups were awarded grants in 2025 to undertake planting across the country.
From Herston QLD to Victor Harbor SA, Williamstown VIC, Hobart TAS, Cowra NSW to Woodvale WA, community volunteers are creating habitats for animals, boosting biodiversity and restoring wetlands.
*Calculations through the Australian Government's PLANR tool (Platform for Land and Nature Repair), shows that once all trees, shrubs and plants are established up to 21,850 tonnes of carbon dioxide could be sequestered over 25 years. Using the Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, that’s the equivalent of taking nearly 5,000 cars off the road!
We are investing in the long-term benefits of nature regeneration. See which sites are located near you by clicking on the yellow dots on the interactive maps (see links below) to learn about the project and its scientific data including plants observed and potential species in the region.
