Dr Uthpala Wijetunge brings more than 20 years of clinical experience across hospital and community healthcare settings in Sri Lanka and Australia. After graduating from the University of Colombo in 2000, she worked in obstetrics and gynaecology, ear, nose and throat (ENT) medicine, and general medicine for 10 years before relocating to Australia. She then gained extensive experience working in emergency departments across regional Victorian hospitals before moving to full-time general practice in 2016.
She has a strong interest in women’s health, chronic disease management and emergency medicine, as well as general family medicine and preventative care. Dr Wijetunge supports patients with a wide range of health needs, from routine check-ups and health screening through to the management of ongoing and complex conditions.
Dr Wijetunge works with patients of all ages, including families, adults and older patients. She takes a thoughtful, patient-centred approach, focusing on clear communication, evidence-based care and building trusted relationships. She works closely with patients to support their long-term health and wellbeing. She speaks English and Sinhala.
