In 2024, we funded the Junior Landcare programme with NZ Landcare Trust.
This programme gives young people the chance to actively contribute to environmental solutions through a variety of nature regeneration projects and resources.
Junior Landcare bridges generations by bringing Bupa Aged Care and Retirement Village residents together with younger participants. Through engaging, nature-based activities, it fosters a sense of shared legacy while promoting health, wellbeing, and meaningful connections.
In its first year, children, teenagers, and older adults worked together to plant native trees, improve wildlife habitats, and create nature-inspired community resources.
The initiative fostered meaningful connections between cultural traditions, the land, the water, and the principle of kaitiakitanga, emphasising environmental stewardship and intergenerational responsibility.
You can support more programmes like this for young children by donating to the Bupa Foundation.
