At Bupa, we provide a great range of benefits for ancillary services (extras). Eligible Bupa health insurance customers may receive benefits for ancillary services if they are provided by practitioners who are recognised by our fund and in private practice.
Where a provider number is not issued by Medicare, there are two pathways for applying for provider recognition:
- Some providers must contact their association to apply for provider recognition with Bupa. These are:
- Counselling providers (Counselling and Indigenous Counselling)
- Providers of natural therapies (Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Myotherapy, Remedial massage therapy, and Traditional Chinese medicine massage therapy)
- Gymnasiums and Personal Trainers.
- All other providers who are not recognised by Medicare must apply directly with Bupa for provider recognition.
