Ambulance Cover in WA

Peace of mind that helps you prepare for unexpected emergencies

Bupa Ambulance Cover

How Bupa helps you

We'll cover you Australia-wide for treatment at the scene and emergency road ambulance services with a Bupa recognised provider from an accident or medical event to a hospital. If you take out Premium Ambulance, you’re also covered for non-emergency ambulance trips, up to $5,000 per person per calendar year.##

We don't pay benefits if you receive treatment from a non-recognised provider, your state government covers your ambulance fees, you hold a subscription with your state ambulance service or you’ll receive compensation, damages or benefits from somewhere else.

Waiting periods are 1 day for emergency ambulance and on-the-spot treatment and 1 month for non-emergency transportation (Premium Ambulance only).

Concession cards

WA residents over the age of 65 and in receipt of a full Australian Government pension can get free ambulance services. No other concession cards cover ambulance fees.

Frequently asked questions

Bupa covers emergency ambulance transport and on-the-spot treatment in most cases unless you can claim it from another source, like compensation or through a private ambulance subscription.

Emergency ambulance is an unplanned event where you’ve been injured or you have a medical emergency where your life may be at risk or where you need medical treatment right away. The ambulance provider will confirm whether the transport or medical treatment was an emergency.

Non-emergency ambulance is when you need to use an ambulance but don’t need treatment straight away or when your life is not at risk. For example:

  • Transport from a hospital to your home or nursing home.
  • Transport to a hospital, your home or nursing home for ongoing treatment, like dialysis or chemotherapy.
  • Where you’re admitted to one hospital and need to be taken to another.

With Emergency Only Ambulance, you're covered for unlimited emergency ambulance trips, including on-the-spot treatment, Australia-wide when provided by recognised providers.

With Premium Ambulance, you’re covered for unlimited emergency ambulance trips, including on-the-spot treatment, Australia-wide when provided by recognised providers. You’re also covered for non-emergency ambulance trips when provided by recognised providers. Non-emergency trips are capped at $5,000 per person per calendar year.
