How do I switch from another health fund to Bupa?

Enjoy a hassle-free experience when you transfer to us from your existing health fund. Simply fill in our application form and cancel any direct debit arrangements you have previously made. If you already have a clearance certificate, please send it to us with your application form.

If I want to switch from another health fund to Bupa, is there anything special I need to do?

If you’re moving from another Australian registered health fund you'll have continuity of cover for the same level of benefit entitlement for services common to both funds – as long as you've already served the relevant waiting periods and transferred within 60 days of cancelling your policy with your previous private health fund.

If your new Bupa health insurance cover has specific benefits that your old health fund didn't, you'll have to serve waiting periods on those benefits. Similarly, if you leave it longer than 60 days to transfer to Bupa after cancelling your cover with your old fund, you'll have to serve all your waiting periods again. Where limits apply, any benefits already paid by your old health fund are treated as if Bupa had paid them.
