To help you get greater value from your health cover, we've established an exciting partnership with Hatch Private Maternity in South Brisbane.

As a Bupa customer, you may be able to enjoy quality private maternity care delivered by Hatch obstetricians and midwives at a lower cost*.

What this means is that if you're eligible^, and you choose to participate, you won't have to pay for your antenatal and postnatal visits to the Hatch Private Maternity clinic, your pregnancy management fee, or the delivery of your baby by a Hatch obstetrician.

We recommend that you contact Hatch Private Maternity about any other fees that you might incur during and after the delivery of your baby.

Eligible customers must be pregnant and register with Hatch Private Maternity before 31 July 2026 to take advantage of this offer.

About Hatch Private Maternity

Hatch Private Maternity is committed to providing you with private pregnancy care – caring for you throughout your pregnancy, the birth and once your baby has arrived. During your pregnancy, you will be cared for by a team of midwives and obstetricians. Hatch Private Maternity cannot promise that your appointments and delivery will be with the same clinician, but through their collaborative approach they trust you will feel at home with every member of their team.


About the hospital

When it’s time for you to have your baby, your delivery will be at the Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital with one of Hatch’s experienced obstetricians. Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital is located on Raymond Terrace in South Brisbane. This is Queensland’s largest private maternity and newborn facility providing mother and baby care.

How does it work?

1. Check you’re covered for pregnancy

To be covered to have a baby privately, you'll need to have held hospital cover that includes pregnancy, and have served your 12 month pregnancy waiting period. Contact Bupa on 134 135 to check your cover and any pregnancy waiting periods.

2. Book your first appointment with Hatch

At this appointment, you'll learn more about the Hatch Private Maternity model of pregnancy care. A midwife will review your personal circumstances^ to determine your eligibility. To book your first appointment, call Hatch Private Maternity on 07 3332 1950.
Please note that this offer ends on 31 July 2026. Eligible customers must be pregnant and register with Hatch Private Maternity before this date.

3. Attend your antenatal visits at Hatch

Your next appointment will usually be with one of the Hatch obstetricians. The midwives, in conjunction with the obstetricians, will then look after you throughout your pregnancy.

4. Give birth at the Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital

When it’s time to have your baby, your delivery will be at the Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital with one of Hatch’s obstetricians. Access to paediatricians, anaesthetists, pathology and radiology are all available at Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital. Please see “What’s covered?” below for more information.

5. Attend your postnatal visits at Hatch

Hatch Private Maternity also offers 2 appointments after you’ve had your baby. One at 3 weeks with a midwife to assist you with your new baby’s sleeping, feeding and routines; and one at 6 weeks with an obstetrician.

What’s covered

With this partnership, we’ve aimed to reduce the costs* of your private maternity care with the Hatch obstetricians and midwives, however there will be some expenses associated with the birth of your child that you will need to pay.

  1. * You won't have to pay for the services delivered by obstetricians and midwives at Hatch Private Maternity if you hold a Bupa domestic Hospital policy that includes pregnancy cover and have served the 12-month waiting period, you meet the other Program eligibility criteria, and you hold a valid Medicare Card. The program is not available to Overseas Visitors or Overseas Students. Offer ends 31 July 2026. Customers must be pregnant and register with Hatch Private Maternity before this date.
  2. ^To be eligible for the Hatch program, Bupa customers must meet certain eligibility requirements, including holding a valid Medicare Card. Customers must also have held domestic Hospital cover that includes pregnancy, for at least 12 months before their baby is born. Hatch is not available to Overseas Visitors or Overseas Students or Bupa customers who have various complicating health factors or who are carrying more than one baby. Clinical eligibility is determined by the Hatch Private Maternity Clinical Team.
