From 1 July 2023, it's likely that applicants aged 15 years and older will need to complete a blood test to screen for chronic kidney disease as part of their Visa Medical Assessment. The blood test replaces a less accurate urine test and comes at an additional cost.
In some rare cases, younger applicants may also be required to complete the blood test (where clinically indicated).
If you have questions about the visa medical assessment exams you need to complete, please see the Department of Home Affairs website or your Visa Processing Officer.
