Bupa colleague conquers legendary sporting event
A UK-based Bupa IS specialist has added to her growing list of sporting achievements by successfully completing one of the most demanding physical events in the world.
Suzanne Nottage, who works as an IS methods implementation specialist in Ashford, Middlesex, competed in the Ironman Triathlon, near Manchester, on 2 August
Competitors must swim 2.4 miles before cycling for 112 miles and finally running 26 miles, all within a 17-hour period.
Suzanne, who has previously completed a marathon run and the first stage of the famous Tour de France, followed a gruelling programme of preparation, training for seven months.
“Competing in the Ironman was great,” says Suzanne, who completed the race in 15 hours and 30 minutes. “I saw it as a personal challenge to complete the race without stopping – and I did it.”
Suzanne has since taken part in a bicycle ride from London to Paris to raise funds for the charity Beating Bowel Cancer.
She adds: “We originally aimed to raise £1,200 each and Bupa Community Connections and our colleagues were all very generous towards the cause. So far, I have raised £540.”
