BMI Calculator

Use this simple tool to calculate your body mass index (BMI). BMI is a widely used measure to find out whether you’re a healthy weight for your height.

According to the National Health and Medical Research Council, a BMI of 20-25 is considered healthy for most adults. However, BMI can be an inaccurate measure of healthy weight for pregnant women, children, older people, athletes or very muscular people. It may also need to be adjusted for some ethnic groups, including people of Asian, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Instructions

BMI is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared. Enter your measurements below and click ‘Calculate’ for your body mass index, and some actions you can take to reach and maintain a healthy weight.

If your BMI is above or below the normal range but you consider yourself to be of normal and healthy weight for your height, you can check with your doctor to find out if there is anything else you need to do to reduce your health risks.
