Every baby born in Australia this Monday to receive a healthy gift

Monday 14 November, 2011, marks the official ‘new arrival’ of one of Australia’s leading private healthcare organisations, Bupa.

To help celebrate its new beginning, Bupa will give every baby born on this day a Bupa Baby Basket. The basket is filled with gifts to make for healthy and happy babies and parents – including an infrared thermometer, nappy rash cream, saline lotion and several presents for the baby.

With an average of more than 800 babies born in Australia each day, this Monday is set to be one of Australia’s biggest ever baby showers!

Bupa’s Baby Day ambassador and TV personality, Sophie Falkiner, said: “This is an incredibly thoughtful gift for new parents, and I would have dearly loved to receive something like this after the birth of my two children.

“The Bupa Baby Basket is filled with products that will help make managing some of the health needs of a newborn that little bit easier, such as an infrared thermometer.

“Although I must admit, my favourite gift is the teddy bear with the Bupa Baby Day date on it.”

Importantly, Monday 14 November will be the first day that the private health insurance brands MBF, HBA and Mutual Community commence trading across the country as Bupa.

Bupa’s Director of Group Development, Mark Engel, said: “We wanted today to be a celebration and what better way to achieve this than by providing a gift to every child who shares the Bupa brand’s official first day.”

Engel also went on to say that Bupa would extend the offer all week for its members.

“We’re delighted to let our 3.3 million members know that all ‘Bupa babies’ born during the week of 14-20 November will be eligible to receive this special gift,” he said.

“We’re proud to support the health needs of Australians and we look forward to sharing this special milestone with new parents.”

To claim the Bupa Baby Basket, parents or their families simply need to send in evidence of their newborn (e.g. a photo of the baby wearing an ID-bracelet that clearly states the date of birth) to bupababy@bupa.com.au by 1 December, 2011.

The Bupa Baby Basket is available for all babies born in Australia on Monday, 14 November. Bupa members can request their gift for any baby born from 14 November until midnight Sunday 20 November.

Bupa, a leading healthcare organisation in Australia, is committed to improving Australians’ health and wellbeing. For further information, including tips and advice for new and expecting mums, please visit www.bupa.com.au
