About The Bupa Health Foundation

Learn more about our philosophy and healthcare objectives

As one of the leading charitable foundations dedicated to health in Australia, the Bupa Health Foundation is committed to improving the health of the Australian community and ensuring the sustainability of affordable healthcare. Too often, good ideas never have the chance to make a difference. The Bupa Health Foundation, with its partnerships in health initiatives and practice, is focused on putting that right.

The Foundation believes in playing a leading role in the health system and generating new ideas and approaches that can improve the health of all Australians. More and more, together with our partners, we are developing a reputation for innovative and pioneering work that will truly make a difference in the important objective of building a healthier Australian community.

We believe in the power of difference – the potential that people, words and knowledge have in making real change. The Foundation’s work is directed towards partnerships that translate evidence into action, educate and empower the community in their own health, support new and enhanced service delivery and invest in health programs that impact on policy and practice. In addition, our work is focused on areas where there is an urgent need for new ideas to meet the challenge of providing high quality healthcare.

The Foundation is currently partnering a number of initiatives nationally with a combined investment to date of around $19 million across our five focus areas:

  • Wellbeing
  • Healthy ageing
  • Promoting affordable healthcare
  • Empowering people about their health
  • Chronic disease

The Bupa Health Foundation is a true partner in the initiatives we support. We partner with great people with great ideas, and help to make those ideas into reality. We do this through active engagement and by making available the incredible resources of Bupa. The Bupa Health Foundation is proud to be one of the largest corporate foundations dedicated to health in Australia. We also believe that in difficult economic circumstances it is vital that we maintain our support for health research and practice. We are delighted that we have now invested in over 60 partnerships across the country.

As a national and international leader in the healthcare industry, the health and wellbeing of our community, improving health outcomes and the affordability of the health system are important to us.

We remain committed to contributing to a strong economy by promoting and ensuring better health for all Australians. The Bupa Health Foundation 2011 Highlights Report (PDF 33.2Mb) showcases a range of initiatives that are doing just that and fulfilling our mission of building a healthier Australian community.
